Thanks for adding my 2.6 to the main list; I had been perusing the forums and found a range that seemed under-done and nobody had claimed it so I just started doing a few. One thing led to another and I wound up doing more than a few, taking care to get reservations from Primenet for each and abandoning any that didn't successfully get an assignment ID. I didn't think I was going to wind up doing enough of them to be worth registering in this thread; I haven't posted on the forums in years, but this seems as good an opportunity as any to make my return. That machine is throwing some ECM darts at the moment and has a co-factor PRP to do after that but it will be back to the 2.6 P-1 later today.

I'll try to remember to post back when I finish the block and perhaps register another, will have to see what is available at that time. Wild to think how long GIMPS has been going, I remember P90-years and having the frontline wave being somewhere in the 10-15M range I think, back in the v4 (and before?) days.

If I understand this correctly, it appears that yoyorocks1 was already working on 7.2 and Wento Huang was already working on 7.5 without reserving them. If I am correct, please remove my name from the ranges and let them work on them.

Code:
6.7 Wento Juang
7.0 DrobinsonPE
7.1 DrobinsonPE
7.2 DrobinsonPE / yoyorocks1
7.3 DrobinsonPE
7.4 DrobinsonPE
7.5 DrobinsonPE / Wento Huang
7.6 DrobinsonPE
7.8 yoyorocks1

yoyo is still active in 7.2 ... I'll give it to him
however it appears 7.5 has no activity since mid November. I'll let you keep that

Another range complete.

4.1 DrobinsonPE ---- COMPLETE (72)

I should be done with 4.3 by the end of the month.

And now 4.3 is done.

4.3 DrobinsonPE ---- COMPLETE (165)

Question, the computers occasionally finds composite factors or multiple factors of an exponent. I have been counting number of exponents factored not number of factors found. Is that correct or should I be keeping track of the number of factors found?

165! awesome.

I can't speak for what everyone else is counting but my choice would be to count newly factored exponents.

My choice is to keep track of newly factored exponents, and this is what I did when I was searching for the factoring status of 1.0M, 8.1M & 9.9M range.

Makes sense to me. Thanks!
7.0M range with B1=3.3M and mprime selecting around B2=8B<>11B seems to complete about 10% faster than the 4.xM range. No actually timing involved, just general observation.

I've observed that my computers with more and faster RAM are MUCH faster at stage 2 even if the the CPUs are the same.

Had one of my old and now-retired CPUs cleaning up a few ranges where my parameters are a little higher.

I did 142 assignments in the ranges:
0.2, 1.0, 1.2, 9.5, 9.9 and 12.1
and found 10 factors for a 7% success rate....not bad.
