Whoever firstly figures out the correct summoning formula wins the game and be famous forever.

To ensure that I track the 8 consecutive weeks correctly, it'll be easier to start from a Sunday, the 1st day of the week. I should be able to bring all the remaining M168M exponents from (274 or 275) to 276 some time during the Christmas Day with the exception that if other users have already reserved certain exponents there. Make sure you dress up as the Santa at that time. Last fiddled with by tuckerkao on 2022-12-23 at 21:46 |

I'll be a bit amazed if you go 8 days without posting, never mind 8 weeks.

8 consecutive weeks without me posting on this forum starting from Dec 25th, 2022 is definitely possible because bringing up all the M168M exponents from 276 to 277 will take much longer. Even a single subrange can take up to 2 months using my current GPUs. There will be a long time that I'll have nothing to announce as my next Mersenne achievements unless I accidentally steps on that 1 in a million chance which 1 of my PRP test turns out to be P-PRP. Any time not posting because of a ban does not count toward my commitment to work on 168M exponents if he refrains from posting. I used the words refrain from and not are restrained. So, my terms are clear enough.

I just looked on Mersenne.org's Top 500 contributors (over the past year), and Tucker Kao is at #27, compared to TJAOI, who's at #58. So Tucker Kao is doing more work himself (assuming male gender based on the name "Tucker") than TJAOI (who even has a thread about them). That alone makes the forum ban look unnecessarily long, IMHO. Maybe it should've been 2-3 months instead of 1 year. Please fix that ASAP or unban him altogether. Besides, I think banning someone for a prolonged period (i.e. > 4 months) because of a misquote (or deceptive quote) is way too harsh. Please let him return to this forum by the end of April, and be more forgiving. If someone lied to me, I wouldn't hold a grudge against them indefinitely, but instead would show short term anger in the form of a proper verbal/text response, and then forgive them afterwards.
@Uncwilly: Why not? If he's not posting for such a long period, there's no reason to avoid the range altogether. If I were active on PrimeNet, I would choose a range outside the mainstream "wavefront" (not necessarily Tucker's preferred range, but basically anything <10^9) to run TF. I'm currently using my CPU to run Aliquot sequences outside the main projects, such as this one, which I didn't touch for quite a while, but am now working on the C106 of i2321 after adding quite a few terms to it. As for my GPU, I use it more towards the 10^9<p<2^32 range, but I always look to make sure I'm not poaching someone else's exponent. Last fiddled with by Stargate38 on 2023-01-04 at 18:45 Reason: I don't avoid a range because of one specific user's offense. |

Have a care! I have very little patience for that sort of thing. For ease of reference, I again give the link I provided just a few posts back in this thread. It documents Tuckerkao's offenses. He didn't just misquote. He mischaracterized what other posters were saying. As far as I'm concerned, even a permanent ban would not be too harsh for that. And he didn't just do it once. He did it repeatedly (and he even lied about having done so). I banned him this conduct, for a month - twice. And when I issued that second month-long ban, I warned him publicly that if he did it again, I would ban him for at least a year. He did it again, and I banned him for a year. It was the least I could do. |
