Threadripper 3990X vs. Threadripper 3970X

Just made a new build today: 3990x + RX 6900XT
Still tuning the system and doing some experiments.
If you want I can run some tests and benchmarks.

For wavefront Mersenne testing, the 3990x is best suited to running 8 workers -- there are 8 chiplets in this architecture. Only for huge FFT work does it make sense to use fewer workers.

True.
I've been testing and 8 workers gives the best timings.
Also in Linux seems faster. Currently I'm using Win11 Pro.

Yeah, Windows doesn't handle more than 64 threads well, so I'd suggest disabling hyperthreading. They've apparently improved it somewhat, but it's still not as good as Linux.
