Prince dedicated a song to this gloxinia of mine. And Adam Levine sang it at Howard Stern's birthday party.

And I will add here a quote from one of my favorite movies:

You might enjoy the SF story Alien Earth by Edmond Hamilton. I read it in an anthology, The Great SF Stories 11 (1949) which I happened to find in a used-books store some time in the 1980's. You might be able to find it online.
