I usually allow Prime95 to use up to 50% of the available RAM on "normal" computers and up to 75% on more powerful systems.
A few of my Windows 10 installations appear to be using almost half of the installed 8 GB of RAM according to Task Manager. However, the total memory of all processes do not add up to anywhere close to 4 GB. I did some research and read that Windows 10 is designed to give programs more memory than they require, but as shareable memory that can be used by other programs. Can someone confirm if this is true? If so, then I assume it's safe to allow Prime95 to use up to 4 GB of RAM on those systems? Last fiddled with by ixfd64 on 2021-08-03 at 23:47 |

I guess I can just normal amount of memory and reduce it if needed. The only downside is that P-1 assignments will have somewhat smaller bounds.
