That's interesting because on my screen/browser the Tahoma and Arial look basically the same, but Verdana is substantially wider. The individual letters look the same in the three fonts, but the when the text is rendered the Verdana line is wider.

Georgia looks substantially different, the shape of the letters isn't the same at all. For instance the f has a descender in Georgia.

EDIT: When italicized in the quoting of the message here, there are more differences between the appearance of Tahoma, Arial, and Verdana.

For me, all the four fonts are the same size, but Arial is more basic on the tips of the letters. The other three look identical.

Here all 4 fonts are quite different (win7) and we were "always" able to distinguish them (i.e. in the last 30 years or so). Georgia is the most apart, as it has serifs and it is using calligraphic x, y, k, q, etc. The differences between the other 3 are not very visible, beside of the width (Verdana is way wider), but we are able to recognize which is which (in the '90es, we used to work for Romanian Chamber of Commerce for about 2-3 years, the job implied 8 hours per day of CorelDraw and QuarkXPress, mainly designing logos, stamps, certificates for companies (with watermarks, filligram, and all the stuff, they looked like money, haha), editing things for the magazine/gazette/newspaper the Chamber was issuing at the time, etc.). For example, Arial has rounded tops and bottoms (look to the letters y, j, which appears there), while Verdana has serifs for few letters, like 'I' (which does not appear in the lazy fox sentence, but belive me, it is there! ), for example, this post is edited in Verdana, and I use it often because uppercase I (from India) has serifs, and is is not confused with lowercase l (from Luxembourg). No confusion in 'iliescu' as I always write him with lowercase.

Doesn't the date header look a lot taller? (I swear it wasn't on 2 lines) Don't know where i get the impression of lot of wasted vertical space, it feels like i can fit less.
https://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?p=581951 <- here, it changes between the 1 line and 2 line version (On Firefox, but it is always 1 line on Chrome. It appears to be a Firefox error.)

On my system all the fonts are the same.

This is by my choice. I don't allow websites to dictate the fonts, I choose the one I like, in the size I like, in the colour I like.

For those that want a different font then simply choose it in your browser and ignore what the website, any website, suggests.

It is my browser, my system, I'll have it show me whatever I want!

When you write your own browser you can do what you like with fonts.

And if your browser is defective and doesn't respect your wishes then it is time to use a different one.

BTW: I currently use Palemoon. Works perfectly fine with regard to font display. I didn't even know this board was suggesting a different font until I saw this thread.

Support the "right to choose my own fonts" movement today.

So you must be oblivion to the fact that the last lines in your posts are microscopically small (to the rest of the world).

Fix it in your browser.

Don't wait for the world to change for you. Change your world for you.
