It's possible to perform trial factoring on mfaktc and run PRP tests on Prime95 at the same time without much slowdowns.

No mfaktc uses too much cpu resources, but you can run gpuowl (PRP/LL or P-1)and prime95 at the same time with maybe 1-5% slowdown on (at least on a Vega64 or Radeon VII).

If someone has 4 cores, then there might be bigger issues, but in that case, the speed is already pretty low, so the slowdown will again be barely noticeable, IMO. Last fiddled with by Viliam Furik on 2021-05-08 at 09:36 |

EDIT: Just did a quick test. ms/iter are about 1% lower without mfaktc. Last fiddled with by ZFR on 2021-05-08 at 10:36 |

Threadripper CPUs have at least 24 cores, so a decent video card will guarantee the ultimate dual performance, thus it's like having 2 assembly lines on each PC. Quote:
What graphic card do you have? If your GPU is much faster than your CPU, then this can be an issue. Last fiddled with by tuckerkao on 2021-05-08 at 11:09 |

Nope. I think I already made my components known in some previous thread, but if not, I have a Ryzen 9 3900X, RTX 2080Ti, and a Radeon VII. The GPUs are now however mining Ethereum (because unfortunately, money is always needed).

I have a friend who has loads of solar panels and a wind turbine. I have suggested to him the possibility of mining, but I thought ASICs were so much better than GPUs, that GPUs were a waste of time. |
