Maybe the temperature difference is not too surprising. The host air from the first CPU blows over the 2nd CPU - see photograph I took from YouTube. I will ask on the Dell forum. Dell themselves are pretty useless, but some of their customers have more of a clue.

5-10C difference from location in the case, sure.
30C, no way. The first CPU isn't more than 30C above ambient, so the air coming off that heatsink can't be 30C over ambient either! |
