Hiking, Black Elk Peak, known as Harney Peak when we hiked it. 7242 ft. / 2207 m.
Camping (in a tent), Bridge Bay Campground in Yellowstone. 7800 ft / 2377 m. Driving, Pikes Peak. Unfortunately I don't know how far we made it up the mountain before turning around. We turned around where the paved road ends (in 1991), which I think is above 11,000 ft, but I could be wrong. We were hit by heavy snowfall there (and of May) and we didn't trust the car or the weather so we headed back down. |

~12000 ft while driving across the Rockies. Definitely felt lightheaded so tried to get down the other side as soon as possible.
~12000 ft while flying in my colleague's plane (unpressurized). I had moderate altitude sickness due to how quickly the plane ascended - thus unable to acclimatize. On the return trip, we flew at ~8000 ft. |

I did manage to get to the summit of Kilimanjaro, though it was probably the most arduous thing I've ever done: there's a couple of hours gap in my memory from the middle of the ascent to the crater rim.
I'm not quite sure where to go from there: it has to be the Himalayas or the Andes, and probably I ought to do a week of ice-axe training in the Cairngorms in winter first, and I suspect I'd need to work on upper body strength in the gym once gyms start being a thing again. I don't know if I'm likely to be able to get fit enough to make Aconcagua plausible. Of course, Grainne is not yet nine months old so it will be some years before I get anywhere further than the gym ... |

I once "free-climbed" a 55-meter tower to install some wireless kit.
It's not the fall that kills you. It's the sudden deceleration at the end...

On the opposite end (not that high but the longest road tunnel in the world), I'd driven through Lærdal Tunnel

Highest Tower / Column hight for me was ~99,5m; an destillation tower at LyondellBasell in Cologne; Germany. It was the highest Column on that site, the view was quite stunning. It was perfectly clear weather; sadly phones and such arent allowed on those petrochemical plants (for a good reason). Mountain wise the Brocken with its 1.141 meters (3,743 ft) was the so far highest point for me. Its many years ago, so i should probably get to visit it again at some point. :D |
