Thanks for all your help!
I now have my CPU and GPU running simultaneous tests (different exponents, I got the assignment for the GPU through the Manual Testing section). The CPU spits out occasional hardware errors, but you've convinced me that it's OK. Think I'll avoid my integrated chip for now. I'll be checking back to see what Runtime Error's doublecheck reveals. Though I'd love for my machine to produce consistent results, I imagine that will take some troubleshooting/work on my end. |

Welcome to the forum. You over-estimate the knowledge of the average user here. I suspect the majority, such as myself, are just here for fun, and don't have a math background. Sure, the math is interesting, and I can follow along with less than half of it if I study it, but I don't have the time to learn it all.

If it is getting those errors on anything more than a real occasional basis, you should look into them and see if you can't fix the problem. If you have to play with the voltage or speed of the processor or other such it will be useful. Did you check out the memory before running Prime95? What temps are you seeing on the board and the CPU?

I'm not a very savvy PC user (yet!)
However, I used memtest while I was troubleshooting my build, for several hours, and it looked OK. Then I bought new memory (because I was getting blue screen before I could even install Windows), and it also tested well. Later I got a new CPU and it fixed my problems, apparently the original CPU had a bad memory controller. I have the option of swapping the old memory back in, or using all 4 sticks of RAM (they are both Corsair Vengeance from different batches). So yes, I've run some basic tests on the memory and it seemed OK - although that was months ago. Very rarely I get a blue screen that is blurry and cannot be read. I had been using a 10+ year old keyboard (which I've replaced with a GMMK) and had also noticed some errors related to skype, so I removed that program as well. Since making those changes, I haven't had it come back (yet...) My CPU is cooled by an all in one, and it seems to be OK. I don't believe it's ever overheated... checking it's temp now, with Prime95 running, it's 29C. If there's a specific test you'd recommend I run, I can try it out and report back. |

Welcome to the mersenne.org forum, the people here are pretty cool, math and computer science enthusiasts. In the interest of the project I ask you to use at least gpuowl version 6-364 because this version supports proofs, the results are accepted on the server, since this version. It saves a lot of computing time, because the time-consuming double checks become obsolete.

Found it... https://mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=25624&page=2 Running v7.1-11-g97cfbd2 now. I started my exponent over, so it should get the proof file. Thanks for the note. Last fiddled with by mathematizer on 2020-10-28 at 23:49 |

for v.6.11.64 -6.11.80 you only need uploader.exe attached in proofuploader.zip
windows 10 cd proof (my preferred directory for uploader.exe) for %a in ( *.proof ) do uploader your-primenet-uid %a I can't give a guarantee for v7, better if you contact user preda the developer of gpuowl, because v7 uses proofs v2 You can place the V2 .proof files in the directory of prime95 / mprime 30.3.build6 or further, they will then be uploaded to the server, this should work without problems. v30.3b6:
I don't see PRP as an option, except for PRP for Mersenne cofactors. Am I correct in thinking that selecting Whatever, 1st Time, or DC will yield some kind of PRP assignment? |

First Time will be run by PRP. DC's will be done by the same method as the original test. There are ways to get around that down in the test types in the Local or Prime.txt, Or change the lines in the worktodo.txt.
