A most excellent podcast on the history of the English language. The presenter includes the history of the land as it is relevant to the story of the language.

Silbo Gomero is a whistled language used in the Canary Islands (specifically on La Gomera) to communicate over long distances across deep valleys or ravines.
It is recognized by UNESCO as important cultural heritage. |
