My own personal Devil's Dictionary spells the above word "perverseverance".

In other rover-related (actually, lander-related) news, the following suggests a DD entry for "shovel-ready project:

Reminds me of a long-ago space mission -- either Gemini or Apollo -- in which there was a minor electrical problem -- static on the radio or something. The astronaut using the thing gave it a solid whap. The problem immediately cleared up.
