Is there any way around this? I do not have [and definitely should not have] admin privileges. Thanks!

Nope. Only "root" (or sudo enabled accounts) can upgrade / install packages. And, just so you know, under CentOS / Fedora the command is "yum", not "yum-get".

Got it. Just to clarify, is "Nope" also the answer to "Is there an alternative way to get mfaktc working in my situation?"

If it's just a matter of the library not being found, you could try adding it's path to LD_LIBRARY_PATH before launching mfaktc. Something like:
Code:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH="lib:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}"
...where libcudart.so.6.5 is in a subdirectory called "lib" within the current working directory.

Yes, I mentioned doing that in my original post on this thread.

To solve my issue, it seems like following the steps here would work, but I do not have super-user privileges. https://unix.stackexchange.com/quest...-in-centos-6-5

It says that you can install 2.14 alongside 2.12 easily, then use it to compile projects with the following steps:

Quote:
mkdir ~/glibc_install; cd ~/glibc_install

wget http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/glibc/glibc-2.14.tar.gz

tar zxvf glibc-2.14.tar.gz

cd glibc-2.14

mkdir build

cd build

../configure --prefix=/opt/glibc-2.14

make -j4

sudo make install

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/opt/glibc-2.14/lib${LD_LIBRARY_PATH:+:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH}"
Is there a way that I can somehow get around this? Thanks in advance.

/what is your situation? Can you ask admin to install the packages I linked before? Then you can compile your own program.

Yes, I can do that. The last time I asked for a module to be installed, it took them several months to do it. But it seems like that is what I need to do. Thank you!

Edit: Also, since glibc 2.14 came out ages ago, they might have a reason for not updating, but I can ask.

Another possibility is that some one spins up a virtual Centos and compiles the program for you. You already gave the output of uname -a:

Code:
Linux theclustername 2.6.32-754.23.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Sep 17 09:46:55 EDT 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Q. Is it Centos 6?

On my Debian system I have this:

Code:
cat /etc/os-release
PRETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch)"
NAME="Debian GNU/Linux"
VERSION_ID="9"
VERSION="9 (stretch)"
VERSION_CODENAME=stretch
ID=debian
HOME_URL="https://www.debian.org/"
SUPPORT_URL="https://www.debian.org/support"
BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.debian.org/"
Also output from lspci | grep VGA would be useful.

Thanks. Do you know what the graphics card is, make and model?

(I tried Centos 6 install disk with qemu to no avail with it finding the "cdrom". I am downloading the LiveDVD now, but I have a slow connection. Hopefully, I will make progress.)

Yes:
Nvidia Tesla K40 12GB
Nvidia Tesla K80 24GB
Nvidia Tesla V100 16GB
Nvidia Tesla V100 32GB

The v100s are highly utilized though, while the k80s are almost all idle, so I'd likely send jobs to the k80s as not to be rude.

Thanks a ton for all the time and effort!
