it is also polite to do what you want with the link (including ignoring it) without stressing people about it.

The title of message should be considered as an indication of the content.

I agree with what the other super-mods have expressed in this thread. Naked links to start a thread is poor forum behaviour.
(Like this other one that you started: https://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=24630
and this one: https://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=24154
and this one: https://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=24133
and this one: https://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=23918)

Future incidents of this may be viewed with a jaundiced eye.
Consider this a direct warning against doing this again.

Blind links are things I always ignore. I had a friend who sent very many such emails. He never seemed to get my objection. NOT clicking such links is basic malware defense.

Ah yes. A relative was sending me things like elfbowl.exe in email steadily, despite my requests she not do so, and I finally took the time to write back in detail about why forwarding such things from her friends and acquaintance who forwarded them from someone who.... (you get the idea) was not a good decision, since I would only regret the waste of bandwidth and delete them and hope the security software provided adequate protection, and how she was putting her own machine at risk as well as her contacts.

Her response was, well you're no fun, but she did stop sending them to me. A few months later I heard she had had to pay someone to completely reinstall the OS and apps on her computer, and she may have lost all her data. Pure coincidence I'm sure.

Controversy removed, by replacing the beautified link with the real monster that was under. Whoever wants to visit the link, copy paste the string and eliminate the additional <enter> after the http://

I did not visit it. Do it at your own risk.

@OP: adding to what other people said, posting uncleaned links is not only impolite, but also unsafe. The link you posted could be shortened to a quarter and still reffer to the same page. As it is, it contains most probably at lest one tracking cookie and some referral stuff, and also information that can lead somebody back to you.

I really appreciate this *Constructive Warning*. Nothing to do with the first impolite warning.

From the FAQ:What if I see something offensive?
You will find 'Report' links in many places throughout the board. These links allow you to alert the board staff to anything which you find to be offensive, objectionable or illegal.

Can moderators be "Reported" back to themselves?

Yes.

To return to the topic: do you have to work hard in order to irritate people, or is it a gift which comes naturally to you?

I am going to take a period off, in the hope that people here recover their mind.

I didn't understand that people is emotionally affected in a forum. May be you can grow a thicker skin !!! (cit. retina).

It is unlikely that seven people will "recover their mind". What you are trying to say is more or less: "the whole platoon is marching out of step, and only I march in step."

In Russian, there is a saying "If seven people tell you that you're drunk, go home and sleep it off."
