contributing to the forum is becoming risky

For a year or so all was good, but ultimately things are becoming worse.
I have been impolitely reprimanded for posting links without text.
Only this forum behaves like that, every other forum in the world accepts nude links without pain.

There is an English saying: When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

So you are arguing that nude links are impolite but you act the same way, from my point of view you are not in a position to moderate because of your behavior.

Doing as Romans in Rome it isn't exactly what american tourists do:

A point which is somewhat blunted by the fact that Xilman is not an American. Neither are a healthy percentage of our other moderators.

If you won't follow the politeness request, maybe a pragmatic one? People that tend to hang out on this forum are more aware of computer security issues than the average person. Therefore very few people are likely to have clicked on your link(s), especially if they took the trouble to hover over it for a second (dear lord, look at that thing). If you want to share something with people, wouldn't a sentence or two help toward that end?

You are talking to a computer security professional so your point is misplaced. Just for the links look at this deluge of replies. Oh, when I warned the forum about doing an upgrade to vbulletin software, they ignored it, so the fact at hand is that people is on average security negligent.
