Thanks kriesel

I also thinking some of the cpu cores have been taking by other tasks, this is the only reason I could be think by now.

Thanks! :D

yes I am taking it as a good sign as long as I dont see errors.

another question about the new version Prime95, I saw when I disable avx by modify local.txt with cpusupportavx=0, it only have fft length 4k/5k/6k available for testing, can't test mem as the old version, so how can I using non-avx instructions to test mem with new Prime95.

Thanks.
Use an older version of prime95. I'll try to replicate the issue. You may need to PM me the local.txt file.

Hi Prime95

this is the local.txt of the app I using, p95v298b5.win64,
OldCpuSpeed=4787
NewCpuSpeedCount=0
NewCpuSpeed=0
RollingAverage=1000
RollingAverageIsFromV27=1
WorkerThreads=2
CoresPerTest=4
ComputerGUID=5a............2ab
CpuSupportsAVX=0
RollingStartTime=0

I checked again, once I set CpuSupportsAVX=0
then what I can running for test is the first option - smallest ffts.
if I choose small ffts or large ffts, the work threads will stop immediately and shows up follow msg:
no FFT lengths available in the range specified, work stopped.

and when I choosing blender test, it just running smallest ffts from 4K-6K.

Thanks! :D

You must also add CPUSupportsFMA3=0.

I'll fix the next build to do this automatically.

BTW, it is better to just use the checkboxes at the bottom of the torture test dialog box to run these weaker torture tests.

Hi Prime95

I want to test non-avx instructions cause my cpu cooler cant hold such heat when using avx instructions, so I have to set avx offset, in default mode, p95 wont test non-avx instructions so the cpu frequence will downgrade to avx frequence, in my case 9900x will be only running at 4.4G, which I expect runing at 4.9G.

I know you might not concern about how people using p95 to do torture testing for oc, but I still want to ask, in your opinion, dose p95 running well at avx freq means it will be also good for non-avx freq? :D

another suggestion from me, do you think it will be possible to intergrade non-avx testing into default test mode, I mean p95 will automatically running avx and non-avx in the same test, like 3 mins for each. just like different fft length.

Thanks for your help! I'm really appreciate! :D

In version 29.8 there are options in the torture test dialog box to run a weaker torture test (disable FMA, AVX, etc). This new feature should eliminate the need to use CpuSupportsXXX=0 in local.txt.
