Now the 4770k will only boot by selecting only 2 cores in BIOS (ASUS board). I suspect that at some stage the old system MSI+4770k had a electrical spike and broke both the chip and the motherboard. My plan is to fit a recently bought i5-4590 in the new ASUS board to improve throughput!

I now have the core voltage at 1.1v and the 4770k is booting on all four cores
