This has warmed the heart a little.

I've been burned by the cold approach by others, not least by a really spiteful exchange with R.D. Silverman a year ago, to think that Chris was being condascending towards students.

I'm not a student, but as a school teacher I do espouse to my pupils the honour and delight that can be had in learning and embracing the fact that we don't know it all.

So in the spirit it was intended - yes, I'm a keen student of number theory! Sorry for misunderstanding!

He is a particularly troubling case. He is amazingly knowledgeable, but can be intolerant. He has been banned, restored, then permabanned. He still hangs around and observes. He does communicate with some members via PM. More and a more diverse set of mods have been brought into the folds to help prevent problems like that.
