Hi,

In the Other Software section of https://www.mersenne.org/download/freeware.php, a lot of the software does not have a blue link text. Are these still available somewhere, or have they been lost?

Presumably Slowinski's code used to find several Mersenne primes was never shared. Most of his results weren't either.

Not sure about links to some of those. A while ago (long while ago) I went through that page and tested all the links and tried to update the ones that no longer worked by looking for a good alternate link, but in some cases I remember not finding any alternatives for dead pages.

If anyone finds a good source for some missing software or code, let me knew and I'll update with a fresh link (or if you find one that no longer works... like I said, I last checked this years ago, probably when I updated the look of the site).

Looks like I was mistaken in the last sentence of post one, butI just tried the Cray prime link which went to ftp://ftp.cray.com/src/misc/mersenne/ and it failed, with 550 error, no such file or directory.

Thanks. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but what it's producing is not the downloadable code, but an ftp server listing for it; 128 bytes total, as below. If those four-digit numbers are the code size in bytes, wow that would be compact too.

For Glucas, https://www.mersenneforum.org/showpo...&postcount=223 dated May 2004 talks about multithreading improvements in glucas during verification of M41.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/glucas/files/ appears to have last been updated July 2002, and contains source for single and MP versions v2.9.0, as well as executables for various target systems.
https://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=14611 mentions v2.9.2 and gives a link (that no longer works) in post 5 of that thread.
There's no version of glucas at the gimps software mirror https://download.mersenne.ca/

Where can code (source or executables) be found that's more current than the July 2002 vintage that is on SourceForge?

For kicks, I revived pzilla.for. This is NOT capable of running big exponents.
Win x64 executable and modified source attached, with a little doc file.
Changes made were for compatibility, date & time of launch and exit added, & slightly different formatting.

Some of the comments in the source code by the original authors are entertaining.

The speed of prime95 on the same cpu is impressively faster. (No discredit to the authors of pzilla. George has worked skillfully and for decades on prime95.)
