Bob's problem - or perhaps, better, our problem with Bob - had nothing to do with his being a good person or not, but rather with his frequent displays of online intemperacy. Such Jekyll/Hyde transformations between people's interpersonal behavior in face-to-face settings versus from behind the relative anonymity (and beyond-nose-punching-distance-ness) of the internet are alas all too common - in Bob's case it was specifically with those he considered of lesser intellect and mathematical expertise, which was a big problem because by its nature this is predominantly an amateur/enthusiast forum, meaning it inevitably attracts a fair share of n00bs, cranks and hopeless cases. In any event, I'm glad you are having useful interactions with him.

We salute that. We had our altercations with him, but that's life! We learned some things from him, that's for sure! And for that, we respect him.

I'll enjoy having him around, if he does decide to post again.

I’ll try to convince him to get back to posting but I’ll not guarantee any success.

That may be desirable, but it is better to work on one's own traits, than to expect others to change theirs.

Namaste.

One of the most important things to take into consideration about the scientific method is that everything is allowed (no, encouraged) to be questioned.

Some take this as an attack. It's not an attack. It's how we find the truth.

Some cower. Others grow stronger, and learn.
