Default How to install Nvidia toolkit on Ubuntu

I remember someone posting a guide on how to safely install Nvidia drivers and toolkit on Ubuntu without pain, but I can' find it anywhere, or only for older versions of Ubuntu (typically <= 14.04).

Does anybody remember a link about it?

Only very vaguely, and a search in mersenneforum came up nearly empty.
Maybe you'll have better luck finding it somewhere in here: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/
like maybe https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/b...-installation/
Happy hunting!

I have been to the developers' pages on the Nvidia site, and noticed that the section related the installation has been revamped, with a manual having a total of 45 pages of instructions and hints to make the installation as smooth as possible

I foud the answer to questions like "how to manage a 2-boards environment", "how to tell X to use one board and leaving the other to computation", "how to setup environment variables", "how to rollback the installation in case something goes wrong" and "How to manage Eclipse plugins for Nsight".

Here is the manual, if anyone is interested.

The installation guides are specific to CUDA level and OS. It's a good idea to download them too when you get the SDK. (Better to have and not need it, than need and not have it.)
