I'm talking about LL or PM1 on the 8-core CPU.

My intention for the GPU is REALLLLLLY fast TF only.

Ah i see. I was just wondering how does the 2080ti compares so closely to titan v on the site. Maybe they should fix that real soon :D However, I suppose the 2080ti performing about as good as a vega running PRP tho which is impressive. Now I am just wishing for one day that GPUs could do 5-6 LL/PRP with 80-100M exponents in one day but that's all hopes and dreams in a long time imo.

From personal experience with the X299 motherboards. Currently using a i7-7900X on an Asus X299 Deluxe. Have been running Prime95 LL without any stability issues for a year. A quality CPU cooling solution is imperative.

PCI-E x16 slots on the X299 Deluxe are firm, sturdy, and the BIOS is updated every two months, now running without stability issues.

Just my personal experience with X299s. Hope all goes well with your MOAB.

Default Build in progress...and impressed the builder

When I brought in my i7-7820X CPU and 2080Ti GPU to a local PC builder, the lady at the order desk called the head technician over and said: "Wow; Paul look at this!"; like they have never seen them before. I said don't all the big gamers buy this stuff; they said this is more than any of them buy. My head swelled a bit HAHA

You bought the parts and you aren't building it yourself?

Sounds tempting, but how much noise would such a build make, with all that power consumption?

One of the reasons I like the cloud is because I can't stand machine hum. But the cloud isn't a good solution pricewise for anything GPU related.

I'm not that brave for what will become the family (read: wife) machine too.

Does she realize she'll be using a top-end gaming machine?

She just wants it to be FAST for whatever she is doing.
And I just want it to to rip through GIMPS assignments.

Neither of us are gamers....though we do have grand-kids nearing that age.

What about the MB and memory? With an 8-core CPU, and if you´re planning to run P-1 (or ECM). at least 32Gb will be recommended, and a quad channel config would only help...
