There are some limitations:

• You must use it within 12 months.
• GPUs aren't included.
• You can't run more than 8 vCPUs (or is it 8 cores?) at the same time.

The link seems to equate vCPUs to cores. But actually 2 vCPUs = 1 physical core with hyperthreading.

To verify this, open an SSH session from the Compute Engine dashboard that lists your virtual VMs, and in the command line type: grep "^core id" /proc/cpuinfo | sort -u and count the number of lines that are output. That will tell you how many cores you actually have. It's half the number of vCPUs.

I will not agree with that: using 8 instances with 1 vCPu will give me gain about 15 % compared to one 8vCPu instance: and that is "little gain" ,but get 6 times more time for same price is not little gain.In one case I can process about 1000 ( my tasks) and on the other 6000 tasks. I thing difference is ( very) noticeable :)

I was referring to the loss of your time incurred to manage all the lost instances each day. Time is my most precious resource, and having to spend it by managing compute instances is no fun IMO.
