Second, nobody would agree or accept that what was posted *38* was the correct answer.

Third, after a lot of argument, the person that posted the correct answer -or someone else- who agreed with it would have to explain in detail HOW do they arrive at the result *38*

After that, several lines of defensive argumentation would evolve. Included but not limited to faulty math as to the order of precedence of arithmetic operations. Some would dismiss the whole puzzle as a gimmick and in general, no consensus would ever arrive.

On this forum, as it is evident, NONE has even asked how you arrive at 38. Everyone involved seems to agree that that is the CORRECT answer and none has thought (correctly) that there is any need to explain how you arrive at 38.

Nobody has insulted nobody either overtly or by implication and that is such a difference from what might have happened in FB.

I am sorry that we disappointed you. I guess we seem rather boring compared to FaceCrook.

You forgot to mention that your answer is in base 31/6.

20 in base 19 is also correct.

My son (who is in 6th grade) found the answer in his second attempt. His first response was 88, because of doing the addition first

Not quite true there are 3 logic rules( a few other arithmetic ones as well) in use to get to 38 :

1. nested shapes are equal to the number of points in the shapes summed
2. number of bananas are their value
3. hour hands on clocks point to the clocks value
