I drove a long way to mostly see the underside of a rain cloud (near Saint Joseph, MO). Totality was *still* spectacular, even if unseen.

I stayed in Boise, ID and drove to Ontario, Oregon about two hours before totality. Traffic was surprisingly light on the way there but quite heavy on the way back.

I drove home afterward and set a personal record for furthest distance driven in a day - 927 miles.

My experience was similar. I saw a crescent with about 20% of the sun visible, but the iPhone picture looks like about 85% to 90% of the sun is visible with the filter, and even more than that without.

But I can't complain, the visibility was good and I didn't have to go anywhere.

Even with the full 2min40sec duration where I was, there wasn't enough time to do any fancy selfies or anything. (or rather I didn't plan it out well enough)
Since I was at greatest eclipse, it was too high in the sky to get a shot of both the eclipse and the scenery.

But as the aeons pass, and the moon gets ever farther from us, its apparent size in our sky will continue to grow smaller. Eventually, people on Earth won’t see total eclipses. All the solar eclipses will be annular, with the moon not quite big enough to cover the sun completely.

Hey that wasn't that far from me!

Also 57 wasn't that bad :P By 20:00 it was nearly clear!
