Always a bit frustrating, but especially so when it's a new machine and you don't know if the machine can be trusted or not.
I did run the torture test overnight earlier this week, and it passed. Is there anything else folks here would recommend, besides seeing if the next exponent matches and waiting for someone to do a triplecheck? |

I would run another double check. About 3% of results are bad, so that's the simplest thing to do. If you get a second mismatch then I would investigate further, especially since you passed the stress test.
If you post the exponent hopefully someone here can queue it for a quick triple check before it is randomly assigned. |

Upgrade the BIOS.
Run memtest for 12 hours. Run Prime95's torture test and monitor the core heat at the same time.

It is M46473709. Apparently there was already some weirdness in that it was either tested twice, or just reported twice, by the anonymous initial tester. (But it didn't make it into the list for early "strategic double checking", apparently.)
Next exponent should be done when I go in to the office again Monday. The ultimate question is whether I need to be having a "this one's a lemon, I need a different system" discussion with the IT folk. So suggestions like memtest are very welcome. |

You may very well have the correct result, so don't fret. I'd run the triple check myself (I'm still picking up what I can of those) but someone else snagged it, like 2 minutes after your result came in. It must be smack dab in the category 4 range where the lowest ones tend to get assigned right away. |

The 2nd exponent on this machine came back as a match. That plus no loud alarm bells going off is encouraging that I may not have bad hardware.
