Default Aircooled GPU

My Titan Black is running 75-77 C with 85% fan speed running CUDALucas. It will probably go down maybe 3-4 C when I dust it off again soon, but here when the spring and summer arrives I'm sure it will pass 80 C.

I'm wondering if I should raise the fan speed to 90%, 95% or 100% when that happens. The fan will probably wear out sooner at 100%, and Titan Black is rated to maximum 95 C:

I'm just not sure when and if I should raise the fan speed, and I just want to hear what others are doing. On my very old Geforce 460 GTX I ran the fan 100% from the beginning and very soon it began to fail.

Another option is looking at case air flow, if you haven't already.

The case air flow is good, I have 4 case fans and the cpu runs 55-60 C (air cooled) with all 8 cores running Prime95.

I would just dust it, then.

I have good airflow in my case with two GTX 580's, and they tend to run in the mid 80's. I have to dust them about once per month. The amount of air moving through the case and the cards manages to pull a lot of dust in.

Thanks for you opinion.

I'm still interested in what others are running their GPU fan at and what the GPU temperature is? and when I should raise my fan speed?

I think I will raise the fan speed if the GPU hits like 83-85 C when the summer hits.

All devices are different, but my experience with GPU fans is that they likely hit max RPM at around 90% PWM. This is just something to take into account. I also strongly suggest that one monitor the RPM of these fans. PWM can be at 100%, even with the fans locked up, or running very slowly.

I run two GTX 580s of the "dump heat in the case" variety. They are both substantially overclocked. I tweak the clock speed based on temperature, so both are currently running at 77 C. I don't let them reach 80 C. Both are at ~90% fan.

Summary: let the fans run close to max, set the clock to maintain the desired temperature range.

We never let our GPUs go over 79°C, but ours had fans that exhausted the heat outside the case.

Mine levels out around 83°C when running mfaktc (x64). It seems like that is a bit high. I did some research. Gamers talk about temperatures from 95°C up to 120°C. Anyway, at idle, my fan speed runs at 40% of maximum, with a temperature of 44°C. It's a bit hard to check it under load as the system is somewhat sluggish.
