What range Carlos. I don't see a reservered range.
At the prompt you would enter ie: 27900 and enter
then top of your reserved range 28000
It should start with no problems. Those numbers are examples look on seive pik a range and try again if you have more problems just post a message.

Do I have to reserve the range first then install the software?
These are the steps I make:

1º - Run proth_sieve_sse2.exe.
2º - Choose sieve from: 27900
3º - Choose sieve to: 28000
4º - Then the DOS window just disappears!

Yes you reserve a range first......... then enter the from and too #s.
If you have problems check what Proth Seive version you have.

Use a small range first .... and check the time to completion. Then pick a range that will run for a week.

Before you go (even better: don't go - but I can't and won't try to hold you back):

Could you please check if there is a file "stat.txt" in the directory?
If yes, it might contain useful information.

Otherwise, I'd start a command shell ("cmd") and start proth_sieve from there. As a result, the output from proth_sieve stays on screen because the window doesn't vanish.

P.S.:
Did you download the SoB.dat file? Maybe that (resp. the missing of it) is the problem?

Well my problem was that sob.dat file. I fargot to download it. Thank YOU.

That's what happens when you read texts at night! Now I'm testing it. I'm getting 450 kp/s. Is it good?

Definitely!
I guess with that sieving power, you could reach position #4 in the sieving stats within a couple of weeks.
