That makes Windows 10 some of the worst spyware ever produced, and that's only the tip of the iceberg.
Well thinking about this from a hackers POV all anyone would have to do is get into the MS servers and/or social engineer some workers and/or have some rogue staff member leak the information to anyone that wants to buy it. So be careful what you type and what you search for because soon enough everyone will know what you are up to. So embrace the ultimate self-censorship tool and celebrate the panopticon. Don't be a square, get with the hip and new, don't hold back progress, let MS be your master and tell you what you need and what you should be doing. What could possibly go wrong?

If I am not wrong same thing was written about Windows 7 when released to public. That is spyware/keyloger, sent any info you type to MS.
MS should have very powerful servers to receive such mass of information, and to process it...

Exactly. As does Google, Amazon, Apple et al.

Then let's think about the NSA, CSIS, MI[56] et al.

What was the expression? Oh, right... Privacy is an illusion. Deal with it.

The preview of Windows 10 did log almost all activity but this kind of behaviour is expected for previews. The release version of Windows 10 does this no more ... but Cortana, the "personal assistant" does log a lot of things. If one does not use Cortana, one must still beware of Edge which uses a lot of the features of Cortana.

With Google, Chrome and other web searchers every key stroke you type in the search field is sent if one enables the "show you results as you type?" features. Without that feature only the final search string is sent.

Vista and Windows 10 inaugurated the age of DRM enforcing OS's. The multiplication of services with equivocal descriptions is typical. I had a Windows XP running with 10 processes only, this is impossible to achieve with the latter MS OS's as far as I know.

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but everyone who isn't a gamer and doesn't use gpu- or cpu-ntensive software that's made specifically for Windows should DEFINITELY be on Linux. As a matter of fact, if gaming is your only reason for Windows, consider a cheap Linux box and a toggle switch for when you want to game. For gaming use Windows, for everything else, Linux.

This is a setup I'm seriously considering. The only reason I haven't done it already is that I have a handicapped person's income, so need to be damn careful with my money.

I personally use it for all my systems, but I don't recommend it for those around me.

I have tons of hair where I don't want it. And where I do want it, on my face or chest, it's patchy on my chest and only a few hairs on my nipples when it comes to my chest.

I think God was drunk off his ass when he made me. ;)

There's a solution space for that. A MACH3 razor.

I regularly shave my head, much to the annoyance of SHMBO'ed and the security services.

Well, as Robin William once observed, god must have had a sense of humour when he created the Platypus.

Piling on:

A Traffic Analysis of Windows 10 root@localghost:~# (Lauren Weinstein).

Reader comment: “As Weinstein notes, if this is correct Windows 10 is a security disaster. ‘ . this is an OS-level keylogger, all the data you’re trying to transmit securely is now sitting on some MS server. This includes passwords and encrypted chats. This also includes the on-screen keyboard, so there is no way to authenticate to a website without MS also getting your password.’ Audio and video input is also captured and sent to MS servers.” Weinstein stressed that, “the item was passed along to me by an A-class correspondent, but the underlying source is significantly less well graded.”

My primary reason for using windows is Adobe software. However, Adobe might remove that reason if they continue their juggernaut path toward ONLY CLOUD applications. So, as with alcohol, my Photoshop and Lightroom will become, in the words of Tom Waits, "This ain't a purchase, it's a rental."

Bloody Bastards!
