Same base clock as the 980 with half the CUDA cores, consuming 120 watts. Should get roughly 260 GHz-days/day with mfaktc for $200. |

I know this reply is about two months late, but I just got my gpu in yesterday. It's reporting 335 GHz-days/day in mfaktc .21 under Windows 8.1. The card I got was this one. EVGA 04G-P4-3966-KR GeForce GTX 960 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card. I'm pretty happy with the results.

How does the amount of GPU RAM affect the speed of mfaktc please? Will 4GB double the speed compared to 2GB?

CUDALUcas is where GPU RAM matters. mafktc uses very little VRAM, whereas with CuLu lots of RAM lets you run bigger numbers.

I take it it is the number of processing units available that matters, and that will be the same for a 960 with 2GB, and a 960 with 4GB? |

Correct, leaving aside card maker or card user overclocking. Another factor with CuLu, at least in my experience, with the Nvidia cards by multiple manufacturers, is that gaming cards almost always have to have the memory clock reduced to avoid errors. On the other hand, I run the VRAM slower on my 580 cards to reduce power consumption and heat. With mfaktc, running the RAM at 1598 MHz instead of 2100 (default) makes no difference in speed.** That is also likely the speed I would have to run it to pass CuLu selftest.
EDIT: ** But it might also account for some laggy display behavior. Last fiddled with by kladner on 2015-05-17 at 01:38 |

How do I set up the 960 to work on XP Core 2 Quad please?
I had a 460 there but now mfaktc gives error 8 on self test. |

It is possible that xp doesn't have new enough drivers.
