I guess we all agree on 17. axb5? But how long before I announce it?

A better idea would be to start discussing what to do after 17.axb5 Rxb5 as that is a similarly obvious move.

17. axb5 Rxb5
18. Ra2 This is, in part, what richs suggested. It will pile the pressure on Black's a-pawn and defends b2 for us. Alternatively, is 18. fRb1 better? Last fiddled with by paulunderwood on 2015-05-11 at 21:52 |

Here's the second line that I carefully looked at during our last move:
16. Bd2 Bxb5 17. axb5 Rxb5 18. Ra2 Bd4 19. Rb1 a4 20. Rxa4 Rxa4 21. Qxa4 We can take our time to discuss this line or any variations before we announce axb5. Part of the charm of this game in my opinion is being able to consider the moves over the week. |

I think the pawn should take the bishop to even up the exchange: a4 - b5
