I've heard of some games going over the 4GB of VRAM that most of the top-tier cards have. A lot of this stuff was people deliberately maxing out their VRAM usage (particularly in order to expose a flaw in the GTX 970) by using very high Anti-Aliasing, crazy HD mods and a 4K monitor (or multiple 1440p monitors).

In that respect, the 12GB of VRAM seems very appealing although I am sure 6GB is a more sensible number and cards with 6GB instead of 12GB are probably going to be more affordable.

Still it sounds like an impressive card. Sadly the Titans have never really been all that affordable.

Should be quite alright in mfaktc, around 30% faster than GTX 980.

One Titan X probably uses less power, less sockets, and produces less heat than that option though.

... what pays you a bigger power supply .. (with at least + 200 W compared to Titan X)

well, Titan x - 250w and if gives 980+30% that's about 580 days/day.

2 x gtx-970 - 290w and 800 days/day and now have £400 left over

My 970 (Extreme) gets anywhere from 510 - 550 / days depending on the ambient Temp (it self clocks) ; Exponent size and Bit levels

The Titan seems like a no-go. The first Titan had 1/3 DP performance whereas the Titan X has 1/32. The Titan was a strange cross between compute and gaming and a bunch of gamers were thick enough to buy them. Now the Titan X is definitely a gaming card but when the GTX 980 Ti comes out, it will be cheaper and possibly a better card, just like the 780 Ti beat out the Titan.

Yeah, I would agree on the GTX 980Ti possibly being much more worthwhile value wise. Meanwhile, I just read the review on Anandtech, and indeed the latest Titan X happens to have a very disappointing 1/32 DP rating, unlike the Black series, & the original release of 1/3 FP32. Yet Nvidia is asking $999 just like the previous versions.
