Sounds like a silly question I admit, but I'm writing up my University coursework on Fractal Dimensions. I am using the formula from Wikipedia and there is a symbol I cannot find replicated anywhere. It's similar to the e shaped symbol which means 'element of' when considering sets. I could use that, but it wouldn't be right. Can anyone help out?

Do you mean the epsilon character?

It is indeed the lower case Greek letter epsilon. You can verify this by checking the source of the Wikipedia article. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?...edit§ion=3

I am well aware, but they are indeed similar; read the OP carefully. He is cognizant of the set inclusion symbol, and described it as similar to the unknown epsilon to aid those who would aid him.
