I wanted to test one of the new 970's at the store, but mfaktc doesn't want to start at all. Most likely still unsupported, because of the need of version 0.21?

I *guess* you're talking about Windows?
It it NOT a issue with 0.20, it is just the CUDA version, 4.2 is too old for GTX 970/980.
Can't compile on Windows anymore, sorry.

On mersenne.ca I have seen that GTX 970 and 980 having cc 5.2 can't run CudaLucas. Is it just a temporary problem, while waiting for the right development environment?

Hello Luigi,

AFAIK: right, no code changes needed for CUDALucas, too. Just recompile for CC 5.2 and go.

Nvidia just released their latest Maxwell-based card: http://www.maximumpc.com/nvidias_mig...b_gddr5_memory

It uses two GPUs, though, so it probably draws quite a bit of power.

300W, passive cooling... so you'll need airflow.

I'm thinking about getting a 970... pricing is somewhat confusing to me though. What makes this one

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NVODXR4/...GUTBDNUZ&psc=1

$100 less than this one?

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NVODXR4/...GUTBDNUZ&psc=1

EDIT: I guess I can't link to each one specifically. But you can see the two options in the lower right corner of the box of different Styles:

GTX 970 SC
$449.00

GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0
$349.99

The ACX 2.0 has a quieter, more energy efficient cooler. The GTX has both a power and thermal throttle. The better cooler leaves more power for processing, and cools better. http://www.overclockers.com/evga-gtx...cs-card-review

Thanks for responding!

The one with the better cooler costs less? Wow... why is that?

And which one has the power and thermal throttle? They are both GTX's.

Also... will these work with my motherboard? It's kinda old:
