Let me clarify: yes, the memory bandwidth per core is worse if getting an 18 core CPU, but if choosing a CPU with the same number of cores, the bandwidth per core situation would be better with the new platform, would it not?

Doesn't that depend on the bandwidth of DDR-4 versus DDR-3?

Mmm, Primo with 72 threads. Not very cost effective, but sounds fun.
So far I haven't seen anything quite tempting enough to make me want to upgrade the 3770K/4770K and 3930K. Lots of stuff to drool over (5960X, v3 Xeons) but once price and price-benefit (for my work) enters in... |
