I don't know about getting hadrons (sp?) about SSD, but let's say I do enjoy them immensely on my desktop. Heh, well "love it love it love it" sounds dangerously close to getting a hadron (spell check says that is okay so it must be the proper letter order). ~~Personally for me it is sharks with frickin' lasers that does it for me.~~ Wait, nevermind, I never said that.

Not that a large hadron (sp?) collider sounds like a particularly enjoyable experience or anything. (you're all free to PM me if after Mark Rose's link you still don't get the (sp?) joke)

On the other hand, even dying of kidney failure would be more pleasant if someone was there with you, so if there are two particle physicists involved maybe it's not so bad?

What's funny here is that this thread was started because we got way off topic on the other one.

What's the status of the new server or the changes that were taking place? I moved my GPUs off GIMPS since I was having so many problems submitting results in an automated fashion. I was using the GPU72 submit_spider program and constantly running into issues. Thanks for any updates.

The old server is no longer being used. We are currently on a much faster temporary home. The new server was installed in the colocation center yesterday. We'll test it for a day or two and then migrate from our temporary home to the new permanent home.

In summary, manual results submission should be much better now (and James is working on the PHP script to make it even better). There will be a one or two hour outage in the next few days for the transfer.

Manual submission is MUCH faster.

On the old box trying to submit a file with 2000 factoring results in never completed. On the new one takes about 30 seconds.
