Have you ever heard that for 2^p-1 to have a chance to be prime, p must be prime?

Your exponent ends with a "5". Surely, you were joking.

97532233 and 97532237 are not prime either, tough luck.

Who knows, some might say it's a result of "Legend In Your Own Prime" syndrome.

The closest prime to his exponent is 97532257...a long way away.

I wonder if he might have had a transposition error on his exponent.

OP, 2^97532235-1 has factors of 7, 31, 13367, 23671, 164511353, 193707721, 761838257287, 13572264529177, a known 27-digit factor, and a known 36-digit factor to name a few.

No, I meant the closest number to his exponent that is prime. 97532257 is obviously prime and it is the closest prime to 97532235. What you said does beg a question though: What is the closest mersenne exponent to his exponent that has no known factors and has not been proven composite?
