Happy Writing the Wrong Year on Your Checks Week!
happy crossing of an arbitrary point in the elliptic! it seems like it's only been 31,558,149 seconds since the last time we were here (relative to the sun, not to the stars). |

I don't know why everyone is excited. Here in Cwm Gwaun the calendar has yet to reach 13 Jan.

I still have to write about three per year, to places that have no online capability OR charge an outrageous "convenience" fee for a credit card.

My wish for 2014 is to raise the TF watermark to 70 bits for all exponents under one Gee (the PrimeNet range). I did the calculus, piece of cake, with the resources I have, it will take me just few days over the ~1969 years...
assuming I can push everything to max and Thailand gets hit by a Greenland-style winter for this period... Of course, half of the Thai people will die in few hours, but who cares... (these guys dress themselves with fur thick coats when the temperatures drop to +16C, as now, when I just switched from "short sleeve" to "long sleeve" shirt, but they still wear "beach sleepers" during all this time, they are very funny with coats and sleepers... I taught few of my colleagues to wear socks and normal shoes, I have this experience from the cold Romanian winters - minus 20C! - that "the cold takes you from the feet first", and they are now very happy and try to teach other guys around, but bad habits die hard...).On the more realistic side, it would take me exactly 365 days to get to position 31st in the Lifetime DC Top, according with the actual DC activity I have (which is almost null in the last period, as I was doing TF and other people did P-1 for me - therefore a more realistic time once I start, would be 1-2-3 months). So, I decided to set this as my 2014 goal. Position 31, beside of being a nice mersenne prime, and mersenne prime's exponent, it is also the last position possible, to get 100 percentile bar. Wish me luck... [edit: I am currently in position 61, another exponent for a mersenne prime, which also contributed to the decision, hehe] Kracker, here I come (after finishing my current assignments, by the way, it was not so nice from you to let me with a hundred P-1 hanging, you should tell me to re-assign them to other computers, or you should finish them and report the results by yourself... Right now, to be sure we are not duplicating each-other's work, I just assigned all the P-1 hanging to "k-..." computers, to my own, and I am going to finish them. You should drop them if you are still queuing them. One of the computers still works for me, I think it is the weakest from the battery, you should stop it - funny name by the way I use to do this when I am angry with my computers, so why did you get so angry with it? ).

Sorry LaurV, I should have finished them, I'm not sure if I can unassign easily (?)
Anyway, they are all off except for that lone small one... which I will kill. EDIT: Looking at the charts, it would take you a year to get to 31? I thought you had more than that

I noticed that the temperatures have dropped a bit here in the middle of North America. I was wondering if some of you GPUers haven't forgotten to turn your machines on?
