It is a sad thing when a Malcolm Tucker wannabe meets with nemesis.

To be perfectly honest, we currently have TOO MUCH P-1 fire-power!

As I've said before, this is in no way taking away from Carl's very impressive work with the CUDAP-1 program; quite to the contrary. I still owe him a nice dinner (and my virtual first born), after all.

But for those using his program, it would really help the project overall if for every candidate P-1'ed, at least one candidate was also TFed to 74 (or two to 73, etc).

Further, for the record, the P-1 work I'm doing is all CPU based -- my lone 580 is doing TFing. I may shift my CPUs to DCing to make more appropriately TFed candidates available for P-1'ing to others.

This is simply a meta-perspective of the current situation. Again, as always, people are free to do what they want.

Ok. Selling TF work for P-1 work!
I am smiling, but this is serious! hehe...
I am struggling to get 100 percentile on PrimeNet's P-1 lifetime top list, but my hardware is way more efficient in doing TF (lots of GPU power, all systems are CPU-bottle-necked, no, what I say bottle necked, they are CPU-strangled!). However, I avoided to do too much TF in the last time because I already am very comfortable in the 100%-ile top. I can allocate two gtx580 to TF on the LL front, which would mean ~~850 GHzD/D. By doing P-1 with the same cards, it would mean between 85 and 95 GHzD/D, so a "rate" of 8 to 1 is advantageous for me. If anybody has CPU power and do P-1 and send me the results (no newcomers! I don't trust them!) I will give back 8GHzD of TF for every 1 GHzD of P-1 you give me.

[Edit: I give you the results including factors found, and you can keep the factors you find by P-1, I don't mind.]

The love of GHzD credits is the root of all evil. Are you really doing it only for the virtual credits?

Hmm, on reconsideration, perhaps you are following the righteous path here since there really isn't anything else to aim for here. Hehe

Of course! What should I do it for?

You haven't heard of the secret Currency Exchange that lets you trade GHzD credits for Good Karma Koins?

oops.....Now that I spilled the beans I guess I'll be reincarnating as a for the next few thousand lifetimes.

I'll take you up on that trade!

And rather than bothering to send you the results, I'll just configure some of my machines to use your Primenet username -- you'll be able to track the results both on GPU72 and Primenet.

I'll do this later today -- look for machines named like "R720_n" showing up in your reports.

If you could bring your GPUs over to TFing ASAP, it would be appreciated. This will probably help tide us over until Jerry gets his water cooled monster back online!

Thanks!

Edit: Oh, and don't worry about giving me the TFing results. Just submit them to Primenet; you can keep the credits.

Me too!

I know you have a lot of firepower... so one more wouldn't add too much, would it?

To put on the table, I'll be "lending" LaurV 6# Dell R720s, which should give him about 110 GHzDays or so of good quality P-1. This balance's nicely with the 850 GHz days or so of TFing LaurV's contributing.

That pretty much exhausts what I can trade, but if LaurV has any additional GPU cycles available that he'd like to make available, perhaps others can join in!

Thanks guys. Creatively reacting to the real-time situation!

I think he does. Giving it to him later anyways and see what happens
