I have never worked it out exactly
, but it runs at a total of about 26GHz.I am planning a new layer and that will add 6 times CPU speed of whatever I add. Most likely some high-end P4s PM |

Hi, I'm a high school senior in Hong Kong. My dream (at the moment) is to get into Caltech. I installed Prime95 a few weeks ago and am currently working on my first candidate: (2^20221283)-1. It is 83.53% done now, but that will probably change by the time this post is read. I am only running the program on one computer at the moment, but its a powerful one: 3.055GHz.

Newsflash!
Yesterday afternoon (local time, +1 GMT) the GIMPS-project got another processor to aid in the noble quest for larger prime-numbers. The processor, a P4 2.4Ghz, lives in the south of sweden with her owner Robin Karlsson, 18 years old. When she don't process webpages for her master to browse or games for her master to play she has previously spent her time idleing. But not anymore. From now on she will do whatever work the PrimeNet server tells her to instead of just wasting CPU-cycles. Her owner, Robin, thinks it's good that his processor has found a hobby, and as it really doesn't interfere with whatever he's actually doing he don't mind at all. Well, that's the story... Mostly from the processors point of view but whatevah' /Tesseract |

Hi. I'm a college guy from upstate New York majoring in mathematics, who feels like he is learning very little from what is taught.
I bore often, and am running out of websites to visit (the just blocked these forums at work on Monday) for something fun to do since my nearest neighbor is over a quarter of a mile away. -Tom Quote:

I am an old man of 50 and run Prime95 on 6 machines. I operate a train for Bay Area Rapid Transit. BART is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, home of Silicon Valley and most chip and motherboard makers.
I have around 577 P90 CPU years so far. I also am a member of Ars Team Prime Rib, like the Prime Monster. With a little luck, I will be able to buy another 30 to 50 machines in the next 2 years. Last fiddled with by outlnder on 2004-07-22 at 18:27 |

I'm programmer from Kemerovo (Siberia, Russia). While two workhorses - Duron 1.6 & Celeron 1.7 Gh - try to make some useful job for us, their master makes some money to upgrade 'em. Spare time master usually spends reading whatever finds, playing sax till gets red-faced and killing neighbours by piano with some not extra-fresh but pleasent ideas. Armed & dangerous in low-ping Q3.

Been crunching DC for a few years now, all for Ars Technica, #3 on TeamPrimeRib with just over 1800 total LL years. DC has been so much fun, with having midwest meetings with other Ars crunchers to talking to people all around the world in IRC. |

outlnder, perhaps you could try wearing a cheesehat. Cheesehats have many magical properties, and keep me feeling young at 55. (A nice woolly llama coat also might be handy in those chilly SF drizzles, but it's not an effect of the cheesehat. :-)

I can't verify the efficiency of cheesehats but can vouch for the effectiveness of a bushy beard at providing thermal insulation when riding motorbikes in winter. Paul |
