Uni is crazy lately. Found time to do some procrastination by playing chess.
Looks to me like dxe5 is probably best especially with Paul's latest.
Looks to me like no one has looked at Rd8.
15...Rd8 didn't look playable to me and you're right that I, for one, did not really look at it at all. Now you mention it I can see that it is indeed worth considering, but on inspection I don't like our position after 15...Rd8 16.exd6 Rxd6 17.Bxc5 Rxd3 18.Ne5 Nxe5 19.Bxb7. Our queenside pawns look to be in danger of being picked off by the pair of bishops, and that bishop pair is also good at harassing our rooks.

So I agree with what you say and I, too, still think 15...dxe5 is best.

I think the more likely White response in Paul's c4 line is:

15. ... dxe5
16. fxe5 c4
17. dxc4 bxc4
18. Bc5 O-O

and I'm unsure where White will go from there.

Regarding David's suggestion of Rd8, that leads to a wild open game:

15. ... Rd8
16. exd6 Rxd6
17. a4 bxa4
18. Bxc5 Rxd3
19. Rxa4

and we still can't castle.

With a day and a half to go, I'm in favor of dxe5.

Maybe, instead of castling, we continue:

18. ... Nxe5
19. Nxe5 Bxe5
20. Ne3 Bxg2
21. Kxg2 Rc1

and we end up with an extra pawn. A long line and white might do something else along the way.

Thanks Rich.

Today is a normal working day in The Netherlands and I'd like to express my admiration for the hard work everyone's putting into the game. We're not doing at all badly i.m.o.

Looking at this line again:
15. ... dxe5
16. fxe5 c4
17. dxc4 bxc4
18. Bc5 Bxe5
19. Nxe5 Nxe5

protects our c-pawn. This assumes a lot. White might push their pawn forward with 17. d4...

Anyway, I vote for 15. ... dxe5 for now, giving us 2 weeks to look into Rich's line.

Happy Thanksgiving. We will be celebrating Christmas next month.

Clearly 18.Bc5 is not a good move for them in that line since e5 needs protection. 18.Bf4 and 18.Bd4 are horribly passive and both allow us to take the take the bishop off for a knight at our leisure if we want to (but perhaps we then wouldn't considering that their bishop is then behaving like a pawn). 18.Bb6 might be playable since then a5 would be en prise if we capture on e5. But it all looks good for us anyway. Which makes me think that perhaps they're better off with 17.d4 rather than 17.dxc4.

Are we perhaps ready to play 15...dxe5 now? We have 17 hours to go.

EDIT: No, 16 hours!
