Got a reply:

I do apologize for any inconveniences this may cause. Unfortunately a GTX 690 or Titan would not be a reasonable replacement for a gtx 570. The gtx 660ti does have a cuda core count of 1344 vs the gtx 570's 480. Also the gtx660ti has 2gigs of video memory as opposed to the 1.2gigs. If you are unhappy with the gtx 660ti as the replacement we can set up a RMA to have a gtx 570 shipped out. Please let us know so we can start the process. Again I do apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused.
I'll certainly request the GTX 570, as long as they don't make me pay for shipping.

If it is possible (I would first ask) then I would go for the Titan and pay the difference. This would be same like selling your 570 with (almost) same money you bought it (except some, shipping etc), a deal which you will never get on ebay or elsewhere.

I would tell them (if this is convenient for you, money related) "I understand that Titan and 690 is not a reasonable replacement and what I was meaning was to pay the difference, in case you blah blah...", where "blah blah" say something like "correctly evaluate the price for 570, don't skin me off with the price for Titan", etc.

I would under no circumstances accept a 6xx, neither a 7xx as a replacement for a 570 or 580, except if that is a 690, Titan, or K20X. For the first two I would pay the difference. The last is yet much too expensive for what it can do. Maybe a 780 would be ok from the "pre Watt" point of view.

I told them to send me the 570 (with no additional shipping charge) and they said

I have forewarded this to our RMA Department for review and you will be contacted in 1~2 business days. Please note that Nvidia's Realative GPU Performance chart here comparing the various GPUs, including the 570 and 660 Ti, does show that the 660 Ti does perform better overall than the 570.
Of course, we know what the performance is like for Compute2.0 cards vs Compute3.0, but I'd prefer not to quote a benchmark off my own site to back that up. If I can find some good independent benchmarks to back that up I might quote them if an opportune moment arises.

edit: found this one: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU12/406
GTX 570 = 9800, GTX 660ti = 6200, so follows exactly same profile as mfaktc.

Heck! A 470 even kicks a 680's butt!

Why? That is an "average" of few hundreds of users who sent their data in. It is not "your page". If you are shy, you go hungry. Give them the link of this thread and I may say few words for them... Is your board, your money, you decide which is better for you.

You mean dozens, not hundreds
And it is still my page in the sense that I could put an 8400GS at the top of the chart if I wanted.

Of course we both know the data is as genuine and accurate as I can make it.

We all do -- it's been peer reviewed. If it was inaccurate, people would have said so -- probably very publicly!

I agree with LaurV. You should point them to it as it is the definitive comparative benchmark source for the work we (and importantly in this case, you) do with our cards. Point them to this thread as well to back up the authority of your page.

That is a OpenCL test so it favors AMD's cards by quite a bit.

James: I have a GTX 660 Ti. Would you like me to run a benchmark of my own? If you don't want to send in the compilation from your site, you could send in the physical output of a benchmark from each card. I would gladly volunteer my GTX 660 Ti for such a test.

Not what I wanted to hear.

Unfortunately we cannot recall this package as it is beyond the US border. If you reject the package then we would need you to cover the return shipping. Our warranty terms do indicate that the RMA policy is to replace a product with one of equal or greater performance. I can confirm that the GTX 660Ti IS in fact a higher performing replacement than a GTX 570. I would recommend testing the card once received, if there are any issues then you can let us know and we could see about getting another GTX 570. However the 660Ti should outperform a 570 in every way.
I have now sent the benchmark links to them, let's see what they say.
