Greetings,

I'm trying to determine when I first joined GIMPS. GIMPS PrimeNet (v5.0) says my account was created on 2008-09-30 20:20 UTC. I do believe that was when I migrated from v4.0 to v5.0. Is there a way to find out when we joined GIMPS from the beginning of time?

2008-09-30 was indeed the approximate date of the migration from the old PrimeNet server to the new one.

I don't see my own original joining date on the PrimeNet server when I log in, but I can see it from the earliest entries in both the results.txt and prime.log files on my machine. So if you still have the original machine you used when you joined, or at least the files which were on it, then that's one way.

look into your LL results report on PrimeNet, use "show date" then subtract 20 or 30 days (or how many you think your first assignment took; at the time the computers were slower but the exponents were smaller too, and how long the first assignment took, you never forget... that is like losing virginity

How do I access that? The oldest date I have is from the legacy data in Computer details, but that only shows the last activity date: 2009-06-26 02:26. I think I joined in 1996 or shortly after GIMPS was established. I would like to know when exactly though. It's too bad they purged that data. They should have kept the original join date.

I, too, am often so sloppy with my own administration that I'm too reliant on other parties to keep hold of the data I need. Perhaps most of us do it too much now in these days of cloud computing.

PrimeNet does hold the data of who turned in which LL results, and partial data on who did most recent factoring, right back to the start of the project - see http://www.mersenne.org/report_exponent/ - but as far as dates are concerned only those since the 2008 migration seem to have been preserved. I guess we can't have everything, can we?

I wonder if the original accounts join date is still there, and just not being displayed. If Scott, et al. see this: is that something that can be easily shown?
