I don't think you should add anything more.

Better to start one more server.

I belive "slow progress low interest"

I'd lean towards S6. Get it to n=1000000.

Reserving 700K-1M for PRPnet port 1400 (as discussed in that thread).

P.S.: Gary and/or Ian will need to edit the first post since the forum booted my mod status a while back due to inactivity.

All righty then--looks like we have a consensus for S6. I've loaded n=700K-1M into the server and I see it's being handed out to clients right now...

What you did is not what I thought you would do. I thought you were going to upgrade the server first OR that you would create a new database and use that to load S6 then move the old server on port 1400 to another port.

Oh, I see. I got the impression that the consensus was that people wanted the new work loaded into the current server, i.e. the stats continued from their present state. In any event, though, I still definitely plan on upgrading the server to the latest version--it looks like it should require only a few minutes' downtime since there's no significant database changes that need to be made.

Hmm...looking back at Lennart's last message I realized I may have misinterpreted what he was saying with regard to the stats. Now that I read it again I think he's saying to do a "clean" server with new stats (saving the old stats separately as I mentioned earlier). I do apologize--having multiple native languages on this forum can make it a little difficult sometimes to communicate with things being "lost in translation"! If having the stats separated is important to people, I can move the S6 stuff to a new server (on the same port).

I'm out of town until Aug. 10th...on a cross country trip with my daughter. :-)

Obviously Lennart has put his clients on CRUS heavily so Max had to make a quick decision after this drive finished. S6 is fine. My first choice would have been all of the base 2 even k/even n/odd n stuff but that would take some time to put together all of the sieve files so there certainly isn't anything wrong with S6.

If Lennart cleans out S6 to n=1M before I get back, then put R6 to n=2M out there for him to clean out too. After I get back, we'll work on getting all of the base 2 stuff put together.

If there is an issue with people wanting some stats separated, Max can sort that out as he sees fit now or later.

Mark, here is my opinion regarding using any kind of new software: Because of issues that we've had in the past and the fact that this project much be so exacting unlike other projects where primes are simply "found" and don't affect any future searches like they do at CRUS, it must work "in production" with no bugs for at least 2-3 months before we will consider upgrading it. If someone can tell me the latest version of PRPnet that has run bug free in production for at least 2 months, then I would be fine with upgrading the servers to that version.

Max, can you change the title of the server link:

http://noprimeleftbehind.net:1400/all.html

to show "Sierp base 6 n=700K-1M" instead of "Various bases b<=200, <=5 k's remaining" ?

Thanks.
