I frequent a forum elsewhere, driven by similar software to this one, on which individual members are encouraged to post pieces of writing concerning the forum's broad theme. Each member writes and posts according to one of two main styles: (1) some members write their whole lengthy story and then post the entire piece of work in one go for others to admire and comment on; (2) others post in multiple installments over weeks or months, posting a short chapter at a time and letting the other members comment after each stage, admiring the newest piece and speculating on the further progress of the story or even making suggestions as to the next section of plot.

I believe that both styles are fairly equally appreciated and that there is not much difference in the number of people reading each of the two types of work, judging by the number of different people who respond in the thread. However, the threads of type (2) get on average about five times as many "hits" in the forum statistics. It's the same principle as what I believe axn is referring to.

Raman is definitely a "type (2)" poster. Unfortunately he still needs to grasp the purpose of an online forum and how best to communicate effectively in it.
