It seems that the 300+ drivers step on cufft's toes every now and then when the card is also used to drive the display. Applications that don't use cufft and dedicated cards should not see this problem.

yes, I have noticed the hickup on the display running cudalucas on the Titan..
Since Im not playing games, it doesnt matter.. when I work during evening with code, I just stop the process.
