The plan, I guess, was loosely to make sure they don't get connected passed pawns (our move Ng3 takes care of that), and aim to win back the pawn we lose on f4 due to the weakness of their pawns on d3 and f4.

But we had no consensus on exact move orders. Possibilities which were suggested after 19...Bxe4 20.Qxe4 Qd3 include:
Your main analysis lines starting 21.Qxd3 cxd3 22.Ng3 Nd5 23.Bd2;
David's starting 21.Ng3 Nd5 22.Rbe1;
and Rich's starting 21.Ng3 Nd5 22.Rf3.

What I meant is that I'm not sure their next move will be Bxe4. I'm thinking Nd5 is strong, even now.

Did we ever discuss what we'd do then?

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood.
No, I don't think that's been discussed.
At first glance I think we're probably okay after 19...Nd5 20.Bd2 exf4 21.h4. If Black attempts to protect f4 with 21...Be5, I think we can play 22.Bxg6!
