Default 1.0.2 now available.

At Chalsall's request I added UserAgent string "MISFIT-TF-FETCHER" to its web payload thereby allowing GPU72.com to identify this utility as the caller.

Possible future functionality will be based on this identification by GPU72.com

Suggestion: Maybe if no arguments are specified, look for default config(GPU72config.txt) otherwise specify argument for a different config name?

Since I'm adding native gpu72 work fetching to MISFIT there won't be a need for changes to the stand-alone fetcher. (unless it is broken)

Good idea though...

Default 1.0.3

I added logging of exceptions that occur during run-time to a file. Useful for debugging issues.

Default Any interest in a modification (non-misfit users)

Currently the work fetcher determines when to fetch work based on the number of "Factor" lines in the target file. An alternative is to fetch if the calculated GhzDays payload of the file drops below a threshold. This provides a much better method for calibrating the balance between work consumption and work fetching.

Is there any interest in this?

MISFIT users need not vote on this since this feature is already addressed in the latest MISFIT beta.

The floor is open.

Certainly, I would like that feature as I manually calibrate the thing to keep 3 days of work and fetch 1 days worth of work. That said, I do not have to recalibrate it often and I am not sure it would be worth your time, as I'd have to tweak the file to change work type anyway.

I can't seem to get this tool to work, which is very frustrating because it would be very useful. I keep getting the following error:

Code:

The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.
This implies (I think) that I'm using the wrong username and password but I've checked and double checked and still no joy. One thing I've noticed is that looking at the console output it converts the first character of my password from upper case to lower case. For example, lets say that my password is 'Bloggs', it it submitting 'bloxxxxxx'. Could this be the reason and if so, how do I solve it? Any information greatfully received.

Mr. mog,

You have discovered a bug that has been there since version 1.0. Good work.

Now, how is it possible that no one else has discovered this..
1. everyone's password contains ONLY lowercase characters [UNLIKELY]
2. everyone else has an active GPU72.com authentication cookie or token on GPU72.com that ignores the authentication sent by the workFetcher and just lets you in. (I believe this is the case)

Please test..... Login to GPU72 via your browser and then run the workFetcher. Does it fetch OK?

Remember your GIMPS credentials are not a factor here. Be sure you using your GPU72 credentials.

Meanwhile I'll be fixing the bug as I have already found the line of code.

Nope. GPU72 doesn't use cookies for authentication. Besides, a cookie is bound to the browser / (software) client. Not the IP.

No, it still gives me the 401 error, but it was worth a try.

ohnoes - we all have all lowercase letters in our password! We could be hacked almost twice as fast! We're DOOMED! They're going to unreserve my exponents!

Edit: Good catch, Mog.
