nobody told you that your case should blow air rather than suck it?

I know this was a joke... But...

Non-specialized fans in a case should pull air in (suck), to assist the specialized fans immediately near high heat producers like CPUs, GPUs and PSs which should push air out.

Unless something is very wrong, air_in == air_out.

Edit: Assuming a closed system. Some think leaving the cover off helps them. This is a fallacy unless there aren't enough fans, and the ambient temperature is low enough that convection does the work.

Works fine here, just open a window. It was -37°C this morning...

Heh, it's not quite that bad here, but the heating in the dorm is suspect, so temps are below 21C, and I think maybe even 19. It's pretty cold in here (for being indoors).

Bloody hell!

I felt cold last night when it got down to 22°C!

Provided with enough power and adequate cooling, one could stick four GTX 580 (or even four GTX 590, if drivers support that), and get an insane combined through output from a single box.
Two GTX 590 cards in a box would be nice. Too bad the GTX 590 is discontinued. Even GTX 580 cards are getting hard to find.

Question

A newbie question here:

What is the difference between different GPU kernels?
If I start an exponent using barrett92_mul32 kernel and then continue with barrett87_mul32_gs kernel from the last finished class, will I compromise the results?

Thank you.

That changes how the trial divide is done, not the actual results of the divide. You should be fine.

That is actually what some of us ARE doing. (And were doing, with CudaLucas, before mfaktc 0.20 release).
P.S. why the ".ro" link? some special reason?

Try Mars II, with two of those you need nothing else...

I guess I'll give these 590s I've got a whirl and see what they can do. Maybe then I can go see what 4 285 classifieds and 3 580SCs will give. I'm doing other DC projects too, so no quotes on how long before I will get to doing all of this.
