I saw a new level of driver 310.70 available from NVIDIA for GTX580; I installed it in the middle of an mfaktc run (stopped it during installation, of course) so the time comparisons are from the same exponent and factoring level.
The previous level, 306.97, gave the following results time per class 11.604 rate 202.52 M/s CPU wait 1.83% The new level, 310.70, gave these results time per class 11.740 rate 201.10 M/s CPU wait 2.30% Nothing else on the system changed; I simply stopped mfaktc and updated the driver. Does it look like the newer one has slightly poorer performance? Has anyone else tried this newest level? Chuck |

I have 310.70 running, but I did not do careful comparisons.
EDIT: I will try an earlier driver and see what comes out. Last fiddled with by kladner on 2012-12-28 at 02:27 |

310.70 was not out long; someone else commented that there might have been issues with it. I have since upgraded to 310.90 and see no problems.
